At the beginning of 2006, the Software Engineering Center (SEC) of the Chinese Academy of Science and a group of returnee from abroad established Nanjing Byosoft Co.,Ltd in Nanjing. As China's first corporation with a focus on computer firmware research and development, Byosoft will provide a new generation of product and service based on EFI BIOS, which is mostly applied to PCs and embedded systems.

China has become the manufacturing center of the global computer industry, providing the country a chance to develop system software. As soon as Byosoft was founded, the company took over the project of "Research and industrialization of Chinese-made BIOS based on EFI" from the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST)'s Plan 863 and the project of "New generation of safe BIOS research & development and industrialization" from the Ministry of Information Industry (MII). The success of the research and development for the new generation BIOS will provide the last core technology in the product chain of China computer industry, while inciting the rapid development of related industries.

The development of these key projects and the growth of Byosoft are highly recognized by MOST, MII, JiangSu Province, and City of Nanjing. It is one of the key indraught projects in the Nanjing New and High Technology Industry Development Zone. In addition, this project received Intel's vigorous support through MII. Following the fast development of China’s IT manufacturing, Byosoft will encounter many great opportunities in China’s growing IT market.
